Exclusive Track Premiere: Puig Destroyer, “Mike Trout”

Puig DestroyerPuig Destroyer - self-titled Yasiel Puig is, by all measures, destroying. The second-year Cuban import Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder is hitting .312 with 32 doubles, 9 triples (!), 59 RBI and 13 dingers. OK, so he’s got 95 strikeouts, but when you walk 52 times — and put up those kinds of offensive numbers — no one’s gonna complain.

The four Dodgers fans that make up grind outfit Puig Destroyer no doubt approve, as they do of the fantastic, NL West-leading season their team is enjoying. On their new self-titled album — their first full-length, following the wildly successful self-titled and Wait For Spring EPs — the all-star group expands their subject matter a bit to encompass everything that makes the game of baseball so fucking great. “Baseball – The Best,” the album’s opening track, sums it up quite nicely, but album cuts “No One Cares About Your Fantasy Team,” “No Hitter,” “Call to the Bullpen” and “Tommy John” should give you an idea of just where their baseball-obsessed, helmet-covered noggins are at.

Today we bring you “Mike Trout,” a song about — duh — Mike Trout. It’s a slower and, dare I say, slightly more melodic tune than the all-out grind attacks of their first two EPs, but it’s no less awe-inspiring, just like its namesake.

Puig Destroyer comes out on September 30th, the first day of the MLB post-season. Pre-order it here.

Puig Destroyer:

Riley Breckenridge (drums, Thrice)
Ian Miller (bass, Kowloon Walled City)
